Brucie Mae Cook was born in Alexander City, Alabama on February 17, 1931 to Rosa and Tera Colvin. She was the first of seven children. On April 30, 2020 Brucie was called home into eternal rest. Preceding her in death are her husband Lanier Cook, son Anthony Colvin, granddaughter Aisa, grandson James Booze Jr. and sisters Geraldine Stephen, Jeanette Oliver and Alma Harrell. She relocated to Cleveland, Ohio in the early 1960's and devoted her life to Christ. She joined Greater Faith Baptist Church and later Christian Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a usher.
Brucie and Lanier were united in marriage and together raised 7 devoted children. She was known to everyone by "Grandma Brucie" and was loved for her cakes and pies, but most of all her banana pudding. Grandma Brucie as also known for her sweet personality. She graduated from Wooster Business College as a certified home health aide. She cared for many in their homes until she retired from the county. After staying at home for a while, she was employed by Dillard's Dept. store at Euclid Square Mall until closing. In her later years, she became jazzy and wore colorful jewelry and she told you like it was. Her wonderful stories, funny expressions and excitement for her birthday will be truly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, sons James Silmon, David Cook (Keia), daughters Clarice Tate (Calvin), Anita Colvin-Sanders, Patricia Cook and Brenda Cook, two sisters, Rev. Lillian Barret of Chicago, IL and Daisy Rickman of Cleveland, Oh. One brother William Colvin of Alexander City, AL, thirteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a very special friend Mr. Lee Malloy.
