Julia Mae Whitt was born on July 12, 1934, in Brewton, Alabama, to the late Claude and Willie Mae Williams. Julia was the eldest of six children. She moved to Gulfport, Mississippi, as a young child which is why she considered Gulfport her hometown. Julia later moved to Cleveland, Ohio, in her late teens.
Julia loved the Lord and her church, the Historic Greater Friendship Baptist Church, which she joined and was baptized under Reverend C.T. Nelson. She served in several ministries over the years, which included singing in the Choir and Helping Hands. She was most proud to serve with the Pastor's Aide and Pulpit Aide Ministry.
Julia enjoyed listening to gospel music, going to the movies, going out to dinner, shopping, spa days, tending to all her plants and gathering with family, especially with those family members in Gulfport, Mississippi.
Julia was called home to be with the Lord on July 24, 2021, at the age of eighty-seven. She was preceded in death by her husband Sanford L. Greer, one son, Kevin Witt, one brother, Donald Albert and one sister, Sarah Davis.
She leave to cherish her memory: her devoted sons, Jeff Williams, Stanley (Charo) Williams, Alan (Pam) Witt, and Kenneth Witt; loving daughters, Juliet Witt and Beverly Witt; one brother, Willie Albert Jr.; two sisters, Juanita Allen and Dorothy Myles; fourteen grandchildren, three of whom she helped raise, Deonte, Destinee and Daniesha; nineteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, cousins and close friends.
